Strategic Support During Rapid Growth
ADHD UK is the fastest-growing ADHD charity in the country, dedicated to raising awareness, improving access to support, and providing clear, compassionate information for ADHDers of all ages.
In 2021–2022, I stepped in to support the charity during a period of intense expansion, helping to shape, steady and run key aspects of its operations as demand for ADHD support surged nationwide.
As someone diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, the work felt personal as well as professional — an opportunity to help shift the national conversation away from stigma and confusion and toward clarity, validation and empowerment.
My role
For six months, I worked alongside the founders to strengthen the charity’s foundations during its rapid-growth phase. This included:
- helping refine internal processes and communications
- supporting organisational structure as new services launched
- contributing to content development for families, adults, schools and carers
- advising on resource clarity, accessibility and tone of voice
- providing strategic perspective during a high-demand, high-pressure period
My focus was on stability, clarity, and helping the charity grow sustainably without losing its heart — or overwhelming the very people it was trying to support.
Ongoing work
Although my strategic involvement was temporary, the partnership didn’t end there. I continue to work with ADHD UK as part of their wider community, including:
- delivering monthly ADHD support groups
- serving as one of their trusted, recommended coaches
- offering talks and webinars
- contributing lived insight to ongoing content and events
Why this project matters
In a moment when ADHD awareness is exploding but reliable information is scarce, ADHD UK has become a lifeline for thousands. Being part of the stabilisation and shaping of the charity during such a pivotal period is something I’m deeply proud of — both as an education specialist and as an ADHDer myself.
